Golden Binding Path Gravel (Loose)
Description
Binding Path Gravel and Path Toppings have the natural effect of gravel but with a firmer finish. Self Binding Gravel is widely used around stately homes, heritage properties and woodland paths due to the relatively hard wearing properties. Typically, self binding gravels are graded from 10mm to fines. The fines dust are essential to ensure the product compacts and binds. The product is excellent for footpaths, bridleways, cycle paths and golf courses.
The installation of binding path gravel is very important. It should be laid on top of a firm sub-base laid to the depth of intended traffic. Binding path gravel should be laid to a compacted depth of approximately 50mm incorporating a camber to ensure water disperses quickly. The initial layer of self binding gravel should be compacted using a vibratory roller before a final pass is made with the vibration switched off. For the final pass water should be sprayed directly onto the drum of the roller ensuring water volume is sufficient enough to prevent fines from sticking to the drum. Water rolling is essential to ensure sufficient fines are present on the gravel surface to produce a smooth and well bonded finish.
